lil poem inspired by reading the contest hearts by Jocelyn Ting

I don’t believe we have a soulmate
one is far too few
our capacity for love is far too large –
there are so many in love here.
And maybe Rose is right and this locust swarm of love will get zapped away as quickly as it arrived-
but maybe she’s wrong.
maybe this love is not as fabricated as we think, just grown with the season,
never dying, just transformed,
a swarm of lotuses sinking their nutrients into the soil,
into love for our beds, our friends, our best friends,
who will ground us next season
to grow once again
